Job Description:
The Production Department Manager is responsible for managing the Production Department of the Ship Repair Facility and to ensure compliance with established repair procedures and safety standards to prevent injury to personnel or damage to equipment or facilities under Production Department cognizance. He will direct, supervise, coordinate and provide administrative control of all personnel assigned to the Production Department. He is responsible for all production work associated with overhaul, providing technical instruction and guidance for repair, maintenance, conversion, alterations, upgrading of equipments and facilities, and ships and crafts assigned to the SRF.
The incumbent will provide for the development, modernization, and acquisition of industrial plant equipments, facilities and machine tools for known and future authorized work as accomplished using approved tests, methods, procedures and practices, and completed within the schedule provided.
The incumbent will maintain liaison with all departments, including U.S. Navy and contractor personnel in the SRF as necessary to fulfill his duties and responsibilities. Additionally, the incumbent is authorized direct liaison with FACOM for matters concerning plant support facilities and equipments.
The incumbent shall impart to RSNF designated personnel the unique characteristics of the position.
Education and Experience
A Bachelor of Science or equivalent degree from an accredited school in an engineering/technical discipline is required. A Master of Science or equivalent degree is desirable. Position requires a thorough knowledge of shipyard production, production management and technical skills.
Fifteen (15) years experience in progressively responsible positions in ship maintenance and repair including ten (10) years in shipyard or ship repair facilities of which five (5) years shall have been in supervisory department head/management positions. Must have a working knowledge of production management, planning, estimating, scheduling, and budget procedures for shipbuilding or ship repair facility. Navy shipyard experience as Department Head 4 years.
Security Clearance:
U.S. secret security clearance level will need to be obtained
Salary range:
40,000 to 50,000 (exempt to IRS limitations)
